Are plastic manholes water tight?
Similar to plastic sewerage piping systems, plastic manholes show no leakage which results in no contamination of the soil by
ex-filtration and no infiltration of the ground water into the manhole.
- Plastic manholes always use rubber joints for inlets and outlets, and holes are made easily by cutting with drilling cores or saws.
- Water-tightness is important to avoid leaks from sewers that contaminate the environment
- But it is even more important when, in the case of high water level, infiltration of water into the collector pipe means a higher volume to be sent to the water treatment plant, with a higher cost for this reason.
- All plastic manholes are tested according to the EN476 ( 0,5 bar).
