Rolf Mellink Appointed as New TEPPFA President

TEPPFA announces the appointment of Rolf Mellink, member of the Orbia Building & Infrastructure (Wavin) Leadership Team, as its new President. Mr. Mellink was unanimously elected for a two-year mandate, effective immediately during TEPPFA’s annual General Assembly in Brussels on 28 April. Rolf Mellink brings more than three decades of leadership experience in the plastic pipe and fittings industry, with a strong background spanning economics, market strategy, innovation and sustainability. He is a member of the Leadership Team of Orbia’s Building & Infrastructure Business Group, also referred to as Wavin, which represents Orbia’s global activities in plastic pipe systems and solutions.

Since joining Wavin in 1989, Rolf has held a broad range of European and global leadership roles across commercial, innovation and general management, including President of Wavin Europe and, most recently, Global Vice President of Market Strategy, Innovation and Sustainability. Throughout his career, he has contributed to strengthening the industry’s role in delivering resilient infrastructure and sustainable water management, including through his long-standing involvement in TEPPFA, where he has chaired several working groups and served as a member of the Executive Committee.

Rolf Mellink: “I am delighted to step into the role of TEPPFA President and to work with an engaged membership, supported by a strong and knowledgeable TEPPFA team. Plastic pipe and fitting systems are fundamental to Europe’s infrastructure ensuring the reliable distribution of water, gas and electricity, and enabling efficient, resilient buildings and urban environments.
Our industry delivers these essential functions in the most sustainable way, and it is crucial that Europe continues to foster a competitive and sustainable pipes and fittings sector. A regulatory framework that is fit for purpose with targeted regulation and, where appropriate, simplification is key to enabling this.
TEPPFA will engage constructively and proactively with European legislative and policy-making bodies, with clear urgency and direction. We are fully committed to delivering on the priorities set out in TEPPFA’s manifesto: strengthening Europe’s water resilience, supporting the energy transition, accelerating circularity, and safeguarding the long-term competitiveness of our industry.”

On the same occasion, members appointed Christian Apel (Radius Systems, UK), Sergiu Petri (TeraPlast, RO) and Andreas Fiefhaus (Viega, DE) as company representatives to the Advisory Council to the Executive Committee.
In addition, the newly appointed Managing Directors of the national plastic pipe associations in France and Germany—Nayla Sammour (UPB, FR) and Johannes Lis (KRV, DE)—were formally elected as members of TEPPFA’s Advisory Council to the Executive Committee.
