Bert van Steeg, the new TEPPFA Vice President for a two-year term

TEPPFA is pleased to announce that, following the decision taken at its General Assembly held on 6 May 2025, Bert van Steeg has been nominated and approved as the new Vice President of TEPPFA for a two-year term.

Bert van Steeg is an experienced director of trade associations, having served in leadership roles for various entrepreneurs’ associations for over ten years. He has developed extensive expertise in advocacy and has been the director of BureauLeiding, the Dutch Association of Plastic Pipes and Fittings Manufacturers, for the past four years. In addition to his professional experience, he has also been active in politics at both the national and local levels.

Within TEPPFA, Bert van Steeg has been a dedicated member of the Executive Committee for four years and has contributed actively to several Working Groups and Task Forces. He is particularly engaged in advancing the Circular Economy and Sustainability agendas at both national and European levels.

Ludo Debever, General Manager of TEPPFA, commented: “I look forward to cooperating with Bert van Steeg as Vice President, representing the national associations’ interests in TEPPFA. His extensive experience in the political dialogue with Dutch authorities and commitment to sustainability will be invaluable as we continue to advance our new governance and strengthen our industry’s impact.”

The TEPPFA General Assembly further approved a change of the TEPPFA governance, to meet stricter EU regulations for international organisations in Brussels related to reporting and the “know your customer” principle for banking accounts. The composition of the TEPPFA Executive Committee has been changed and is from now on restricted to maximum 7 members. The General Assembly voted the following persons as the Executive Committee members for a two-year term:

  • Harald Schwarzmayr, TEPPFA President, COO West at Wienerberger Group
  • Bert van Steeg, TEPPFA Vice President, Managing Director of BureauLeiding (NL)
  • Rolf Mellink, Global Vice President Market Strategy, Innovation, Sustainability at Wavin, part of the Orbia Group
  • Attila Mehes, Managing Director at Georg Fischer
  • Sven Alaerts, Global Head of Environmental Sustainability at Aliaxis

The former TEPPFA Executive Committee has been renamed to “Advisory Council to the Executive Committee”. The General Assembly further approved the dismantling of the Application Groups and the integrating the Application Group projects into the new Working Group structure.
